Discours Franco-Allemand

The French Embassy in Berlin once again hosted the Discours Franco-Allemand of ESCP’s European Center for Digital Competitiveness. The two founders of the Center, Professor Philipp Meissner and Professor Klaus Schweinsberg, had invited the CEO of the energy company EnBW, Dr. Frank Mastiaux, as a discussion partner. The energy manager, who is also a member of the Board of Directors of Alstom, commented on issues relating to the energy transition, but in particular on the current energy policy challenges.

Short Notice Briefings

The Centre for Strategy and Higher Leadership hosts Short Notice Briefings on topical issues for CEOs and chairpersons of major companies in Europe. In 2022, Short Notice Briefings were held with, among others, General Sir Richard Shirreff, author of the book “War with Russia,” Professor Igor Yurgens, former advisor to the Russian President, and NATO’s 16th Supreme Allied Commander, Admiral James G. Stavridis (photo). The discussion was chaired by Professor Klaus Schweinsberg.

SZ-Kapitalanlagetag (Capital Investment Day of the Süddeutsche Zeitung) 2021

“New start after the Corona crisis in asset management” – top-class representatives from industry, politics and science discussed opportunities and strategies for institutional investors at this year’s SZ-Kapitalanlagetag.

Prof. Dr. Klaus Schweinsberg (ESCP) and Dr. Fritzi Köhler-Geib (KfW) opened the second day with analyses of the current economic situation. In the subsequent discussion round with Prof. Dr. Bernd Raffelhüschen (University of Freiburg), Thomas Richter (BVI) and Johannes Vogel (FDP), there was intensive debate on the new challenges posed by Corona, ESG, climate change and retirement provision.

Munich Security Conference 2020

The CEO Lunch of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) 2020 was dedicated to the topic of Transatlantic Relations. At the invitation of MSC Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger and Professor Klaus Schweinsberg, nine U.S. senators and 20 top CEOs came to the Bayrischer Hof to discuss the current Europe-U.S. relationship. Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as Senators Lindsay Graham and Sheldon Whitehouse outlined the views of Democrats and Republicans in this round.

Cyberattacks and Fake News

At the end of September, Prof. Dr. Klaus Schweinsberg discussed with Bettina Schausten, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of ZDF, the topic “Serious Information versus Fake News. Quality Journalism under Pressure.”
The full-day conference on the topic of “Cyber Attacks, Fake News and (industrial) espionage – hybrid threats to business and society” took place at Deutsche Telekom’s capital representative office in Berlin. Speakers included Dr. Thomas Kremer, Board Member for Data Privacy, Legal Affairs and Compliance, and Dr. Thomas Tschersich, Head of Security and Cybercrime. Prof. Marco Gercke from the Cybercrime Research Institute also provided illuminating insights with a cyber incident simulation that exemplified the scenario of a virtual attack.
